Goxip Partners With Summer Dyason To Reveal The Best Tips For Luminous  Skin In The Hot Months

Dewy skin is trending according to the searches, sales and active page views across fashion and beauty search platform Goxip’s beauty category, with a particular rise in demand for illuminating products.

Almost everyone would do anything to attain gorgeous, dewy skin, but with humidity levels at peak this time of year, it’s difficult to maintain that healthy, glass-like glow without the unwanted side effect of an oily or sweaty appearance, sometimes also impacted by incorrect technique.

And so with dewy skin leading the most wanted skin look this season, Goxip partnered with celebrity make-up artist Summer Dyason,  to discover how you can achieve the glow whilst withstanding the high heat.

  • Keywords including ‘glow’, ‘luminous’, ‘shimmer’, ‘dew’ and ‘light-reflecting’ have collectively increased 52% in the last 3 months.
  • Searches for highlighters are up 23% month on month.
  • Powder blush is usually the number 1 choice for customers, but cream and liquid blush has risen 31% since last month, proving desire to look glowy is peaking in interest.

So from a professional who knows how to beautify the stars from dressroom to dance floor, creating radiant skin that stands the test of a tango or a cha cha cha…

Here are the best tips for dewy, (not sweaty) skin, according to Summer Dyason

PREP PERFECT

It is all about preparing the skin for the best radiance. Start with initially cleansing your skin to remove any excess oil or make-up and use an exfoliator to remove dead skin cells. For your next step, use a product such as The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Face Serum, which is pore minimising and decongesting and helps combat the appearance of oily skin. Apply it before your moisturiser for a little more oil control. Just because you may have oily skin doesn’t mean you can skip moisturising. This is a must before starting any make-up look. Use an oil-free moisturiser to prep the skin. Summer’s favourite and go to when prepping the skin is Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face base, this works as the perfect primer too. The moisturiser is enriched with Shea Butter and Vitamins B, C and E, and the rich face base envelops the visage in a veil of nourishing moisture, whilst keeping the oils at bay. This product nourishes and primes, without leaving the unwanted greasy feel, making it the perfect base for a flawless and dewy look. When you apply your moisturiser, use your fingers (with clean hands) and really massage the product into your skin. By massaging you are stimulating blood flow to the surface of your skin, which will make your skin more radiant and glowing.

GLOW SLOW

Before applying foundation, Summer will go in with some glow on the high points of the face, which makes the feel of creating the glow from within she shares. Her must have product for this is Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow. Apply this product on the top of the cheek bones with your middle or index finger and on the top of the brow bone, and really work the product into the skin. When creating glow you only want to create it on the high points of the face, If you were to use this product all over, it would give you the more oily “sweaty” look, so just stick to these two places for now. Foundation will be your next step, and when choosing a foundation for someone with slightly more oily skin, you want to go for more of a matte to satin finish, always trying to opt for something that is oil-free. Summer’s favourite foundation is Too Faced, Born this Way, which is oil free, with a medium to full coverage. Create an even base using a stippling brush, which makes your base flawless without any brush strokes, and buffs it into the skin. Less is more, so always start with a little and build in the places where you may need more coverage.

POWDER POWER

Those more prone to areas of oiliness will find powder to be their best friend! The way to transition an oily look into a glowing look is to have the glow in the right places. This means going in and also creating a matte look where we need it. The places where we want to keep matte is our ‘T-zone’, which comprises across the forehead and down the centre of our face, like a “T”. These are the places where we naturally create the most oil, and this where we can start to get the “sweaty” look. By taking away any shine from just these places we get our natural glowing look. For the powder, Summer either uses a translucent powder, of which Laura Mercier is a favourite, or for more added coverage and for a flawless look, she loves Charlotte Tilbury Flawless filter compact powder. If you then wanted to add more glow, you can go back in with the product that you used in step 2, such as Charlotte Tilbury Wonder glow and dab a small amount on the top of your cheekbones, or where you would like to add more glow with your middle finger and pat into your skin.
