It’s been quite some time since Chanel launched a "named" bag? Infact, it was Karl Lagerfeld's last unfinished Fall/Winter 2019 collection. The bag is named "19" simply for launching in the year of 2019. In the past two years, Chanel has failed to launch any new bag series, opting only for re-launching models like the 11.22 in 2021, and some seasonal styles in between. Other evergreen series, such as 2.55, boy, 11.22, 19, gabrielle, have all grasped price increases over the past two years. Even in the second-hand market, there is an average of only 20% discount, with some pieces even exceeding the original price.

The time has finally come for a new style by the much loved brand, as Chanel presents a new line of handbags called "22". "22", as the name suggests, is a bag launched in 2022. It’s design is like no other in their collections and doesn't have a typical Flap Bag body. Instead, it’s fresh, new and innovative. The simple tote like bag style features the iconic brand logo and practical, minimalist lines.

The "22" in black and white showcases the classic colours of Chanel, whilst the oil wax leather of the body adds to the chicness. The shoulder strap intertwines metal chains with wax leather material. The soft style bag body uses enlarged diamond car lines for an ultra modern twist, and is set to become the Queen of all bags in 2022.

The new model is also available in pink and pinky purple! But the brand’s ‘multi-season pink’ has received some bad reviews. The girly shades are certainly eye-catching, and the brand logo is replaced with metal offering a super 1980’s Barbie feel. Those who would much rather stand out than appear laid back with more neutral tones should definitely consider the pastel options.
