Another Multi-functional Bag? Louis Vuitton Coussin Is The New 3 In 1 Obsession
The Most Eye-Catching Louis Vuitton Bag For Spring And Summer
When we can’t travel abroad, we spend the money on luxury goods instead. Whilst we can’t in fact prove this statement, we have reasons to believe this could be true. What we do know is whilst brands usually market their handbags in June ahead of Summer, we’ve noted a 6 month advance on this, with most high end brands pushing signature handbags from the start of the New Year. It might have been early, but with more money at hand, less to do and therefore less to spend money on, we think brands have made a constructive decision to push their pieces early to cater for the at-home shopping lovers.
Although the Coussin bag might be inspired by previous 3 in 1 designs, such as the LV3 launched by the brand only last year, the new concept uses soft lambskin, a flexible structure and a chunky metal chain strap for a much needed new lease of life. The bag may be all over Instagram but the only place the brand’s latest IT bag can be purchased from is online. At the moment anyway… We suggest you act fast, as these babies will be gone in a heartbeat!
With lambskin as the chosen material, the bag’s comfortable and light body texture resembles that of recent IT bags like Bottega Veneta The Pouch and Chanel 19, both sporting soft handbag bodies. The Louis Vuitton Coussin has layered quilted intervals, much like the Trio of Old Celine but with one key difference that gives the LV a hedging start with its ability to dismantle into practical compartments, capable of storing different personal items. Rare by the brand, the bag is offered in a variety of colours including bright green and metallic, all available from the start of the launch. It’s clear the brand is stepping outside their comfort zone to cater to an array of tastes.
Nicolas Ghesquière, the artistic director of Louis Vuitton women's clothing, is the creator of this season’s IT Bag. Balenciaga's City Bag was also made by him. The Coussin Bag, his latest design is part of his desire to present yin and yang, by featuring both rigidity and softness, in the hope to eliminate gender distinctions. Through this desire, he focused on key features such as the detachable metal geometric chain strap and a neutral design. The brand’s traditional printed monogram used in old designs is replaced with a more modern embossed monogram making the handbag more versatile. The bag can be single-shouldered or used as a cross-body, so it is interchangeable depending on choice.
The bag also comes in two sizes, cute petite or a larger version to make a real statement. So take your pick!
