Who would’ve predicted 2020 to be the start of a global epidemic? Corona virus is hitting us hard on a global scale. From Asia to the US, governments are taking drastic measures to limit the spread of this epidemic. Hence, we, as responsible citizens, are all wearing those face masks to avoid sneezing or coughing around and infecting vulnerable people. These precautionary regulations are a nightmare. The efforts into their makeup ends up being smudged and ruined by the face masks. Are masks the fashionista’s nightmare? How can we be trendy and wearing a breathable mask at the same time? If you want the answers to these burning questions, check out our mix-and-match tips, straight from Paris Fashion Week Fall 2020.

Paris Fashion Week turnout was quite a hit by COVID-19. France is on lockdown mode, businesses declining, and people are not that encouraged to travel to countries, let alone to the country itself. However, plenty of hardcore fashionistas made it to the event and it didn’t affect their mood to dress up for the occasion. Here’s how they incorporated face masks into their outfits, keeping it trendy and safe at the same time.

Matching outfit colors with face masks

Hot tip: Pairing clothes and accessories with face mask color works out well! Check out how these girls did it. You can do the same! The person on the left picked a scarf that matches the coral color, accentuating her overall style. The person on the right did the same but instead matched her beige colored trench coat with her mask.

(2)Color Blocking - drawing attention with vibrant colors

The Japanese Model, Kozue Akimoto, went one step further. She matched the monogram on her tee with her mask, accentuated the strong colors of red and black. Utilizing Color Blocking, creates a layering effect. Finally, she optimized a bright red trench coat to make the mask & tee pairing even stronger. A bit bold but certainly creative.

(3)Paying extra attention to your eyes

How about the make up? Well, if the mask covers half of your face, there’s not much point in having some fancy lipstick on. Smudging away your beautiful makeup and covering your natural beauty. But wait, there's a fix! Instead, you can focus on your eyes and make sure you stand out from the crowd. Try using earthy-toned eyeshadows to give your eye a deeper look. Then, thickening your eyebrows to get that extra sharpness going on. You’ll be looking sharp and ready even if you’ve got your mask on!

(4)Shift the focus attention with the help of oversized purse

Finally, there’s another trick to shift people’s attention from your face mask to your overall figure. Try out oversized purses. Trust me, they work. Check out this one from Christian Dior and how Bao Bao Issey Miyake is wearing it. Get one and let the bag do its thing!
