YSL’s New Cushion Compact: How To Make Your Foundation Last In 3 Steps <br/> | Goxip

Cushion foundations have caused a lot of buzz in the beauty world and rightfully so. This K-beauty creation promises the coverage of a liquid foundation with the convenience of a powder compact to lightly conceal any perfections whilst also leaving the much-coveted glass-skin effect.

So when YSL Beauty announced its new luxury leather version of its cushion compact, our ears were pricked. Doubling up as the perfect accessory, the unique couture design sports the house’s signature chevron quilt and YSL Cassandre logo for the perfect classy touch. And it’s not just the packaging that has got a fancy upgrade, the reinvented formula boasts Jasmine Petals from the YSL Ourika Gardens, to deliver a shine-free, matte finish that smooths out your complexion without drying your skin.

How to Make Your Cushion Foundation Last All Day

We love the new sheer formulation of YSL’s new cushion foundation, but the combination of sweat, humidity and mask-wearing can test its longevity. To ensure your flawless base lasts all day, simply follow these 3 steps below.

Step 1 - Moisturize

Good makeup is all in the skin prep, which is why it’s super important to make sure you start with a hydrated base. For the summer months, you want to go in with a lightweight gel-based moisturizer that will replenish the skin for a plump, hydrated complexion without any of the heavy textures that can cause breakouts.

Step 2 - Apply a little at a time

When applying a cushion foundation, you want to start off with a light layer, so that you really allow for the product to sink into your skin to create the most natural finish. For more coverage, you can build up the layers if necessary and use the cushion sponge to apply the foundation in a gentle patting motion. This allows you to blend the cream into the skin for even coverage. Just remember, apply in thin layers and wait a few seconds for it to absorb into the skin, then add another layer if necessary.

Step 3 - Set Makeup With Powder

There is a fine line between looking ‘dewy’ and looking shiny, and in our glowy-skin obsessed world, powders often get a bad rep. But, if you choose your powder wisely and its placement, this makeup step will actually work to preserve your glow - not take it away. Once you have your powder of choice, the key is to only powder a light dusting over your oiler areas of concern, which are for most people the T-zone. One coat will be all you need to keep the grease at bay but still ensure a dewy sheen.
