Pandemic, or no pandemic, designers this year weren't going to let Covid stop them from releasing a new series of It bags. From Loewe’s extension of its Balloon series, including the extra-large style of its cult Elephant bag, we’ve also been bestowed with Gucci’s Jackie, Dior’s Bobby and many, many more. We couldn’t do a roundup of the new 2020 handbags however and not mention the new Prada Cleo bag. Enlisting an army of influencers to help launch the bag on Instagram with a series of black and white images, it was hard not to notice the arrival of the Cleo.

A polished adaptation of the brand’s signature re-issued nylon mini bag, it’s made from smooth leather that has a tactile sheen. Just like the brand’s signature 00s nylon tote, the Cleo is shaped to a curved silhouette that hugs body when worn over the shoulder.

In terms of styling the Cleo is chic enough to be worn with just about anything. It can elevate simple jeans and T-shirts at the weekend or can be slung over a blazered shoulder to complete your boss lady look.

The Cleo comes in four shades, you can choose from classic white or black, or opt for something a bit more colourful and go for Orchidea Blush or Prada Acqua. You can also choose from two variations: a top-flap and a top opening. Both styles come finished with Prada’s triangle logo at the front.

Unlike Prada 90s-inspired nylon shoulder bag the Cleo is perfect for evening or special occasions, with its luxe leather fabrication making it suited to all occasions. Both timeless and classic, it’s guaranteed to have equal staying power and will no doubt be a smart investment piece to stay in your closet for years to come.
