Please always remember that skincare is more important than makeup! Only with a healthy and stable skin condition can your skin glow even without makeup, and your makeup more smoothly blended onto your skin when applied. The average everyday face wash can only remove dirt on the skin surface, whereas the debris and sebum clogging the pores are the main reason for the unhealthy condition of the skin, and which cannot be treated with the average cleanser but only with a deep cleansing exfoliator.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON’T EXFOLIATE

When dead skin cells, dirt and sebum accumulate on your facial skin, your skin will become yellow, coarse, dull and lackluster. Also, when the pores are clogged, the skin cannot absorb the skincare products properly, and so no matter how many expensive skincare products you apply onto your skin, they will only go to waste!

HOW FREQUENTLY SHOULD YOU EXFOLIATE?

Over-exfoliation is bad for your skin, as the excessive rubbing and scrubbing can cause the skin to lose elasticity and lines to appear. The frequency of exfoliation should depend on one’s type of skin; for instance, it is recommended that exfoliation be carried out two to three times per week for oily and combination skins, and once per week for dry and sensitive skins.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT EXFOLIATOR

Similarly, the choice of exfoliator should also depend on one’s skin type. People with sensitive skin should pay special heed for they have relatively weaker ability to shed dead skin cells and weaker metabolic rate. It is recommended that they use a gentle exfoliation method, and choose exfoliators in the form of mousse, gel or emulsion and without microbeads. They should also avoid applying the product directly onto parts of the skin where there are allergic reactions.

People with dry skin type can choose exfoliating gel, for its jelly-like quality is more gentle and turns into a thin layer when applied onto the skin. Gently massage the area using your fingers until the dirt and dead skin cells are removed from the skin. As for people with oily and combination skin types, exfoliating masks are a good choice. Their ingredients, including natural soil such as deep ocean soil, Kaolin clay, and activated carbon, can effectively cleanse out debris and dead skin cells from the pores, restoring the skin to its healthy condition.
