Who doesn’t want flawless white skin and glowing rosy cheeks? Unfortunately, not everyone is born with perfect complexion and beautiful, healthy cheek color. To create the desired look, you need the help of blushes! There are now numerous types of blushes to choose from, ranging from the most commonly used powder blush to the more recent cream blush and liquid blush. If you’re not sure which type of blush is right for you, start by considering your skin type. Below are the three most popular types of blushes, the skin types that they are suitable for, and how they should be applied in makeup.

POWDER BLUSH

Powder blush is the most common type of blush. Besides mono-color blushes, many brands now offer two-toned blushes to add layering and depth. Powder blush is relatively easy for beginners to handle, but it could melt off easily with sweat in the summer. Powder blush is more suitable for normal to oily skins, as it could appear flakey and cracked on dry skin. If you still want to apply powder blush on dry skin, adequate moisturization before makeup is recommended. Apply by dipping a round blush brush into the powder evenly and then gently sweeping it across your cheeks.

CREAM BLUSH

Cream blush is suitable for all skin types, but special attention is needed when applied on oily skin as its weight may add burden to the skin. One upside of cream blush is that its smooth and hydrating texture makes it easy to blend with the foundation. The difficult part is application; thus it is recommended that the blush be applied in small amounts repeatedly, and if stronger color is desired, repeat in larger amounts.

LIQUID BLUSH

Liquid blush is also suitable for all skin types and can readily blend into everyday makeup. Due to its watery texture, liquid blush blends beautifully onto the skin and blurs out lines and wrinkles. Low color rendering is both an upside and downside of liquid blush, as it may not be suitable for a bold and glamorous makeup, but it will definitely create the gorgeous, natural dewy pink glow that is perfect for light makeup or “no makeup” makeup!
