Meet Gucci’s New Jackie 1961

At Goxip, we love to be the first to discover what will become the hottest items to own for the upcoming season and after some internet sleuthing, it’s become pretty clear that the only bag to invest in this season is Gucci’s newly reissued Jackie 1961. A small, hobo style, the tote was first released in the 1950s as the "Constance," where it quickly became a firm favourite of Jackie Kennedy, so much so that the brand soon renamed the style after her.

And just this fall, Gucci has reissued this bag in classic monogram canvas as well as multiple pastel and jewel-toned hues, plus a range of more contemporary sizes: medium, small, and mini. With all of the original signature details intact, it comes with a “piston” clasp and is also equipped with a removable and adjustable strap, so it can be worn several ways - handheld, tucked right under your arm, as a crossbody, and as a shoulder bag.

The Jackie in mini was perhaps the most anticipated style of the collection. Chiming perfectly with 2020’s miniature bag craze, this pint-sized style comes in the recognizable shape and like its larger sisters features a buckle closure and a second strap as well as the top handle.

The small size is the closest to the original and is definitely large enough to accommodate all the essentials (wallet, phone, keys, lipstick and mask), with a little room to spare. What we love most about it, is that it can easily transition from a professional day bag with a linen suit to an easy, hands-free crossbody for weekend errands in jeans and a sweater - and when worn with a sexy knit dress, it makes for the perfect polished evening accessory.
