Portrayed as "uncompromising, innovative, audacious," couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga was conceived in 1895 in a little Basque angling town and moved to Paris in 1937, building up a salon at 10 Avenue George V. He designed the style of the twentieth century and his supple and light suits, coats and chemise dresses still feel contemporary today.
