With the change of seasons, many of us are in the mood for new hair colors. Many girls yearn for the special hair colors of K-Pop icons, such as lavender purple, milk tea blonde, and foggy pink, but these colors require bleaching and dyeing to create. If they are not maintained properly, the color can fade and go blonde very quickly, and the money and time spent on them can be wasted. Here are 5 color maintenance tips to keep your hair looking great for longer!

1. Don't wash your hair the day before bleaching and colouring

Some people are too embarrassed to go to a stylist with greasy hair, so they wash their hair the day before. Because hair bleach is highly irritating and can easily damage the scalp, you should not wash your hair the day before bleaching and dyeing to give your scalp a layer of natural oil protection to block the damage of the bleach and reduce the stinging sensation, so that the hair is not damaged more seriously afterward.

2. Wash your hair only two to three days after bleaching and dyeing

You may not be able to stand not washing your hair for a day, but after bleaching and dyeing, you may have to put up with it. Hair stylists recommend washing your hair 2 to 3 days after bleaching and dyeing, as this allows the dye to absorb more and lock in the colour, so that it lasts longer and looks better.

3. Wash your hair less often and make sure the water is not too hot

As color gradually falls out with each wash, one way to maintain your color is to wash your hair less often, and by washing it every other day, it will last twice as long. Also, don't wash your hair with too hot water, as the heat will cause the pigment particles to lose their color more swiftly, causing them to fade quickly.

4. Reduce the use of hair tools and combine them with heat-resistant hair styling products

Similar to hot water washing, heat causes colour to fade faster, so reduce the use of electric tools such as curling irons and flat clips, and if you do use them, keep the time to a minimum and use heat-resistant products to block the heat and prevent colour loss. Also, when blow-drying your hair with a hair dryer, try to avoid using hot air throughout. It is recommended to use hot air until it is 50% dry, then use cold air until it is completely dry.

5. Use color protection shampoo

This is really important! Because, unlike regular shampoos, color protection shampoos have color-locking, color replenishing ingredients to keep your special hair color in tip-top condition and help remove yellowing so that your hair doesn't turn 'MK Gold' when it fades.
