How To Make Your White Sneakers Last Longer

How To Make Your White Sneakers Last Longer | Goxip

Once upon a time, you wouldn’t be caught dead with bright white sneakers, but fast-forward to the age of designer sneakers (Common Project, Veja, Gucci...) and all of a sudden you’ll find yourself avoiding puddles like the plague.

If you’ve been wondering how to keep you sneakers looking box fresh - you’ve come to the right place. Below we break down how to properly clean your sneakers so that they stay looking as good as new.

Don’t Skip On The Pre-Care

Sure, your new sneakers have just arrived and we know you’re excited to put them on, but before you do, take 5 minutes to cover them with a waterproofing and leather protection spray. A quick spritz all over and this will help protect them from the elements.

For leather you can’t beat Jason Markk Repel Agent spray or Crep Protect. Spray all over every month or so. Whereas for canvas a regular waterproofing spray should do the trick.

How To Clean

Notice a mark? Not to fear, there’s plenty of ways to spot clean your sneakers. Here are a few tricks:

(1)Brush Clean

If your kicks are really looking sad, and are in need of a deep clean then both Crep Protect and Jason Markk offer cleaning brushes as part of their cleaning kits. If you are not looking to invest in a "proper" sneaker brush, a toothbrush will also come into it's own here.

Home Remedy: Baking Powder + Vinegar

If you’re looking for a natural remedy you can also clean your sneakers using a baking powder and vinegar mixture. Simply combine one tablespoon of hot water, one tablespoon of vinegar, and one tablespoon of baking soda. Mix until it reaches a paste-like consistency, and then use an old toothbrush to lather the mixture onto the canvas areas of your shoes. Viola!
