Looking back 6 months ago to the spring/summer 2020 runways, there were some standout trends set to dominate the season. So it’s time to stop wallowing and start planning ahead and switch up your look with these 4 spring/summer trends that are worth trading in your sweatpants for.

When it comes to controversial trends, neon often tops the list. Even Anna Wintour once proclaimed that ‘fluorescent colours’ were her most hated fashion trend. But Ms Wintour hadn’t seen neon’s newest 2020 iterations. The biggest spring/summer trend, highlighter colours stormed down the runways, from Jacquemus to Marni and Balenciaga who all put a refined spin on fluro style. You can either go full 80s or pick a few fluo items to bring a touch of life in your outfit. Either Way, fluo is the way to go!

Not just a winter style, crochet fabrics were seen in full force on the spring/summer runways. Major designers such as Fendi, Ferragamo and Jill Sandar all proved that the best way to wear crochet this season is with a one-piece dress. Opt for a thigh-skimming design or be bold and go full beatnik with a maxi or two-piece matching set.

Suits will forever be in style, but it was the short suit in particular that came out as one of the key runway trends for spring/summer 2020. Longer, Bermuda style shorts that you could easily wear to the office, were seen from designers such as Chloé and Tods who both championed the piece. The best way to wear it? Style with a matching blazer, as seen at Max Mara, or balance your look by styling them separately with a jumper or shirt for a more relaxed take.

Designers such as Fendi, Dior and Givenchy all proved that the SS20 details all lie within what’s on underneath.
