Just when you thought the ugly shoe trend was dead, just in time for winter Louis Vuitton introduced its new Pillow boot. The ‘ugly’ boot of the season, the Pillow Boot was first debuted on the Spring/Summer 2021 runway show.

This is one of many viral ‘ugly’ designs that Virgin Abloh, who took over as LV’s creative director back in 2018 has come out with. Versatile in design, the Pillow boot can be worn in all seasons of the year thanks to its free-flowing shape and fit. Simply by pulling the rope toggle laces, you can make a more secure fit which is perfect for winter, or loosen them when we come into spring.

The pillowy design also comes complete with a flat sole and the house’s signature monogram motif on the lining. Made entirely from waterproof nylon, it promises to keep your feet dry inside the well-structured interior, which despite its loose shape is designed to hold your feet snugly in place.

Like all Abloh designs, it’s anticipated these boots will sell out fast, so just in case you can’t get your hands on a pair, here are 3 similar ‘ugly’ shoe designs from the King of Ugly - Gucci to add to your winter wardrobe now.

Alessandro Michele has a knack for taking everyday designs and updating them with his signature maximalist flair. Case in point, these Ace sneakers have an exaggerated platform sole and come finished with the house’s signature web striping and Alessandro’s quirky mix-matched metallic heel tabs and gold bee embroidery.

(2) Gucci Loafers

Released back in 2016, these fur-lined loafers from Gucci became an instant cult item - even the Olsens were fans. A statement piece, they’re made from smooth leather that’s lined in light-brown shearling for a cosy finish.

We love this elevated take on the classic espadrille. Made from logo jacquard-canvas, they come finished with leather piping and the brand’s signature gold-toned antiqued logo on the front.
