3 cool facts about GOYARD, a French brand that is more difficult to buy than HERMÈS

GOYARD is just as prestigious in the world of fashion!

Founded in 1853 in Paris, Goyard is celebrating its 170th year next year. The brand, which has a longer history than Louis Vuitton, has been loved by international royalty, celebrities, and stars for its understated, mysterious, and high-end style, such as Coco Chanel, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Pharrell Williams, David Beckham, and many more. The celebrity effect has led to a growing desire to own Goyard products, making this 'niche' brand a global sensation in the past ten years.

Goyard's luggage is as hard to find and buy as Hermès' Birkin and Kelly bags. The fact that the brand has no online sales channels means that you have to visit a shop to buy the latest bags and check prices, which makes Goyard even more unique.

Other than that, here are 3 facts about Goyard that will make you love this century-old brand even more!

1. The Y pattern is the key to the brand

Goyard's familiar Y motif is so recognisable that it is instantly identifiable as a Goyard product. The Y was named Goyardine in 1982, a symbol of the three generations of the Goyard family, and when you look closely, you will see the signature of the second generation, Edmond Goyard, "E:Goyard" on the monogram and the address of the main shop in Paris, "233rst Honore Paris".

2. Durable and timeless GOYARDINE canvas

The Goyardine pattern mentioned above has been hand-painted by artisans on a fabric that feels like leather. In fact, it is a natural coated fabric made from a mixture of linen and cotton. Originally, the Goyardine was only brown, but after the acquisition by the French merchant Jean-Michel Signoles, it was added in seven colours, including red, orange, yellow and green.

3. Always striving for innovation

Although Goyard does not advertise or have celebrity endorsements, and even nowadays it does not have an online shop, it has always been developing new products. In addition to the popular Saint Louis Tote, it has launched a joint collection with Snoopy and recently launched the simple and practical Bohème Hobo Bag and a wide range of suitcases for modern travellers.
