Hermès Enters The World Of Mini Bags: Meet Its Newest Wallet On Chain
It’s time to downsize your day bag and switch to a mini bag instead. The trend that was first spotted all over the spring/summer 19 catwalks, from Jacquemus, Jil Sander and Oscar De La Renta and all of which helped the tiny silhouette cement its place as the It-Girl staple of 2020. And, to no one’s surprise, the mini Hermès bag sits at the top of the pyramid of desirability.
Yeap, that’s right, the Maison’s holy grail trio: the Birkin, Kelly and the Constance all now come in a petite form, constantly popping up in our Instagram feeds on the arms of influencers and celebs. If you’ve been saving up for your very own Hermès for quite some time, the mini is your perfect chance to invest in the brand at a lower price point, meaning you don’t need big pockets to invest in the trend. We break down our favourite styles below.
The Birkin is arguable the most iconic handbag of all time. But with icon status, comes a high price tag and a long waitlist and the mini Birkin is no exception. In on-trend neutrals, and with its signature top handles, the mini Birkin is also surprisingly versatile with a detachable cross-body strap for easy wearing.
Named after Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco, the Hermès mini Kelly is just as popular as its larger older sister and probably the most successful of the minis. An immediate success, it comes with a long strap to be worn crossbody and despite its petite frame can still hold essential items, like a phone, a credit card, some currency and a key.
Each of Hermès’ iconic bags come in: 28cm, 32cm, and 35cm, 25cm sizes and the mini comes in at 18cm. But after years of Hermès fans yearning for a WOC-silhouette of their most popular designs, the brand fulfilled its customer’s wishes and released two new WOC styles just earlier this year.
Hermès Wallet On Chain
Introducing the To Go versions of the Constance Long and Kelly Wallet, this means Hermès fans can finally carry their wallet hands-free, as both designs are equipped with a removable crossbody shoulder strap.
The Kelly Wallet To go has the traditional Kelly wallet turn-clasp and comes with two ring loops at the sides of the leather strap so it will never get creased when in use. Guaranteed to withstand the test of time (this is Hermès after all), they are priced slightly higher than the original wallets, but are still a steal for those looking to buy into the brand.
Constance Long To Go
Much the same as the Kelly wallet, the Constance is an extended version of the Constance style, housing 6 card slots, 2 large compartments, and a section for change in the middle. For those who complain about the fussiness of the Kelly lock, the Constance certainly has an easier way to get in and out. The iconic ‘H’ gold-toned hardware makes for the perfect finishing touch.
