H&M X Toga Collaborate To Launch Stitching Windbreaker And Beaded Suit As Part Of Joint Fashion Series

H&M collaborates with Toga, a brand founded by Japanese designer Yasuko Furuta to add depth to its current collections. Toga’s style can be seen in the classic silhouette which also offers a unique retro feel and rebellious spirit. With a combination of different materials incorporated in the designs too, the line is definitely something special!

Previous collaborations have included Simon Rocha, Brock Collection and more, with the latest partnership being a Japanese independent designer brand Toga. After completing a fashion degree in France, Yasuko Furuta founded Toga in 1997. As a feminist, in interviews, she always spoke of her great appreciation for the changes Vivienne Westwood and Rei Kawakubo alike brought to the fashion industry. Not purely surface level factors and the appearance of their styles spoke out to her, but also the new level of female thinking that also helped to shape her own unique design style moving forward.

Toga's clothing maintains the elegance of Japanese culture and the unrestrainedness of Western culture. In this, the brand offers everything from constructed uniforms to ready-to-wear garments. Yasuko Furuta especially loves the hand-made retro elements of the 50s and 60s. To give credit and depict these era styles, she utilises beautiful beads and metal buckles in her designs.

Toga's experimental designs all play a big part in her fashion collaborations, including Gutian Yasuko's favorite splicing of different materials. She also incorporates her own style stamp of retro elements under the beautiful silhouettes and classic clothing.
