Bottega Veneta Deletes All Social Media
It goes without saying that we are living in an increasingly digital world, with social media at the centre of it. You can imagine our surprise then when just last week we woke up to the news that one of the biggest fashion brands in the world - Bottega Veneta had deleted its Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.
If you were to land on the brand’s social page, you’d be met with the message: “Sorry, this page is not available,” reads the @BottegaVeneta URL, where the brand had over 2.5 million followers.
At first fans thought it might be a stunt or even every brand’s worst social media nightmare - a hack into the account, however since it’s been a week and the account is still down, this would suggest the deletion is intentional.
Daniel Lee - Old Celine
British designer Daniel Lee officially took over as the creative director of BV in 2018. Before that he worked for Phoebe Philo. Lee has made an impressive mark on the brand, helping to overhaul Bottega Veneta’s offering of luxury bags and totes.
Cult designs include the brand’s "Cloud Bag" which has helped solidify Bottega Veneta place as an It-brand.
The New Old Celine
Daniel Lee, who used to work for Celine's former creative director Phoebe Philo, has stuck to the minimalist aesthetic of Celine’s hey-day. And like Philo herself, Lee stays away from social media - he currently does not have an active social account.
In a recent interview for Vogue, Lee said: "I think the world is changing very fast. I belong to the millennial generation and grew up with the Internet. I know the importance of social media, in a certain way. I don’t like it, but it’s part of modern culture and obviously changed the fashion system. Of course we have to keep up.”
